چکیده

Abstract Mungbean is of the important legume commodity in Indonesia, however production still encountering abiotic salinity stress. Fifty mungbean accessions were evaluated for tolerance at Indonesian Legumes and Tuber Crops Research Institute (ILETRI). The experimental was arranged Split Plot Design consisted two factors three replications. main plot environments, normal stress that applied using diluted seawater, while subplot accessions. parameters including soil electrical conductivity, time to first flowering seed maturation, plant height, leaf chlorophyll index, toxicity score, yield per observed. Salinity decreased with ranged from 61.33 - 100%. highest index (STI) found Vima 4-MLGV 1118 (STI=0.58) MLGV 1065 (STI=0.53). Five did not able produce any seed. negatively correlated it positively potential both It suggested selection evaluation future should be categorized by age yield.

Salinity Stress and Salt Tolerance

Salinity is one of the most serious factors limiting the productivity of agricultural crops, with adverse effects on germination, plant vigour and crop yield (R Munns & Tester, 2008). Salinization affects many irrigated areas mainly due to the use of brackish water. Worldwide, more than 45 million hectares of irrigated land have been damaged by salt, and 1.5 million hectares are taken out of pr...

Co-expression of Arabidopsis NHX1 and bar Improves the Tolerance to Salinity, Oxidative Stress, and Herbicide in Transgenic Mungbean

Mungbean is an important pulse crop extensively cultivated in Southeast Asia for supply of easily digestible protein. Salinity severely limits the growth and productivity of mungbean, and weeding poses nutritional and disease constraints to mungbean cultivation. To pyramid both salt tolerance and protection against herbicide in mungbean, the AtNHX1 encoding tonoplast Na+/H+ antiporter from Arab...

Biotechnology of water and salinity stress tolerance.

Drought and salinity are among the environmental factors that constrain agricultural productivity most dramatically. Classical breeding programs aiming to improve stress tolerance have been hampered by the multigenic nature of the trait and the seemingly scarce natural genetic variability in crop plants. Novel genetic determinants governing the function of stomata and improving the performance ...

Salinity and High Temperature Tolerance in Mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] from a Physiological Perspective

Biotic and abiotic constraints seriously affect the productivity of agriculture worldwide. The broadly recognized benefits of legumes in cropping systems-biological nitrogen fixation, improving soil fertility and broadening cereal-based agro-ecologies, are desirable now more than ever. Legume production is affected by hostile environments, especially soil salinity and high temperatures (HTs). A...
